Remote - Austere - Wilderness First Responder (RAWFR)

The RAW First Responder course provides participants with skills and knowledge to take control of emergency situations in remote areas. It is designed for outdoor education/recreation professionals, mine rescuers, fire fighters, SES personnel, remote resort dive & tour operations, security personnel and anyone who travels to, lives or works in remote areas.

It is practical by nature with hands on workshops and adrenaline pumping scenarios designed to put your skills to the test.

Course duration

7 days face to face (including 2 night  sessions) plus completion of  pre-course study. (Night scenario on Day 4)

 

This course now incorporates the Nationally recognised qualification: HLT21020 Certificate II in Medical Service First Response (Recreational and Outdoor) and includes the following units of competency:

Core Units

• CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

• HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control

• HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

• HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors in the work environment

Elective Units

• HLTAID013 Provide first aid in remote or isolated site

• HLTAID014- Provide Advanced First Aid

• HLTAID015- Provide Advanced Resuscitation & Oxygen Therapy

• PUAEME008- Provide Pain Management
