Ocean Lifeguard
The Ocean Lifeguard course builds on the knowledge gained from the Pool Lifeguard course and transfers these skills to the open water environment. Ocean Lifeguards are proactive in preventing incidents from occurring and highly trained in open water rescue and first aid when the need occurs.
Pre-requisite

Upon successful completion of the Lagoon Lifeguard course, participants will receive:

A statement of attainment issued by Allen's Training (RTO 90909) for the following units of competency:
Category 5 Emergency Care delivers nationally recognised training on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909

Ocean Lifeguard Certificate of Currency endorsed by Aquatic Lifeguards Australia (Valid for 12 months)
n order to meet the Aquatic Lifeguards Australia requirements and achieve a certificate of currency issued by Aquatic Lifeguards Australia (valid for 12 months) students will be required to meet the following
The additional requirements for your Ocean Lifeguard Certificate
Fitness Requirements
800m pool swim in 14 minutes or less;
Lifeguard Mission:
400m swim,
800m run,
400m board paddle in less than 25 minutes. (Performed in an water environment, where possible, in the presence of ocean swell)
5 minutes of continuous CPR
Rescue Skills
Conscious patient tube rescue and unconscious patient board rescue performed in open water and where possible, in the presence of swell
All Pool Lifeguard rescue skill requirements.
