The HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy course is a nationally recognised qualification that builds on foundational first aid and CPR skills, equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence to manage complex and life-threatening emergencies.

This advanced training is ideal for individuals who may be required to use oxygen therapy equipment, airway management devices, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) as part of their professional or workplace responsibilities.

Participants will develop the ability to respond rapidly and effectively in emergencies that require advanced resuscitation techniques — ensuring a higher level of care before the arrival of emergency medical services.

 

Course Overview

During the HLTAID015 course, participants will learn to:

  • Manage cardiac arrest and perform advanced resuscitation techniques

  • Administer oxygen therapy safely and effectively

  • Use airway adjuncts such as oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal airways

  • Operate bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation devices

  • Apply and monitor pulse oximetry and vital signs

  • Coordinate and communicate with emergency medical services during an incident

  • Follow established protocols, including the DRSABCD action plan and Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines

This comprehensive course combines theory with hands-on practical scenarios to ensure participants are ready to perform confidently in high-stress situations.

How long does the HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy course take to complete?
The HLTAID015 course is typically delivered over 2 hours, combining face-to-face practical training and assessment with some pre-course online learning (which takes approximately 1.5 hours). This format ensures participants have the confidence and competence to respond to real-world emergencies.

 

Is HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy nationally recognised?
Yes. HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid is a nationally recognised unit of competency within the HLT Health Training Package. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Statement of Attainment (issued by Allens Training RTO 90909) that is accepted across all Australian workplaces and organisations.

 

How often should I renew my certification?
The HLTAID015 & HLTAID009 certification remains valid for 12 months in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommendations.

This course is suitable for anyone who may be required to provide a oxygen in their workplace, community, school, or sporting environment. It’s ideal for:

What should I bring?
Comfortable clothing, photo ID, and a willingness to participate in hands-on activities.

HLTAID009- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
