Level 2 Advanced Sports Trainer

 

The Level Two Sports Trainer program builds on the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the Level 1 course. Level 2 Sports trainers take on more senior roles at their respective clubs, have a greater skills & knowledge base to draw upon and may act as mentors for Level 1 trainers.

Prerequisites

  • Current Level 1 Sports Trainer. (PSTA, SMA, NRL, SASMA)

  • Minimum 12 months and 50 hours* Sports Trainer experience.

  • **Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003 ) & Provide CPR (HLTAID001) certification

(* 50 hours experience must be verified either by Logbook, letter from club president or Level 2 Sports Trainer. **Provide First Aid must have been completed within the last 3 years. Provide CPR must have been completed within the last 12 months. HLTAID003 or HLTAID001 must be kept current to ensure Sports Trainer remains valid.)

Course Content

  • The course covers the following topics:

  • Advanced assessment & management of the injured athlete

  • Advanced resuscitation techniques

  • Spinal Injury & concussion management

  • Advanced Taping– Knee, Shoulder Elbow, kinesiology taping basics

  • Strength & conditioning coaching techniques

  • Sports trainers responsibilities regarding Work Health and Safety

  • Mentoring new sports trainers

  • Introduction to sports massage (Optional- Additional cost)

Upon completion, successful participants will receive:

Professional Sports Trainers Australia Level 2 Sports Trainer Certificate of Currency

Statement of Attainment with the following units of competency:

  • PUAEME004A - Provide emergency care for suspected spinal injury

  • HLTAID007- Provide Advanced Resuscitation
