Water Rescue Certificate
(This course meets and exceeds the requirements of the Bronze Medallion offered by other providers)
The Category 5 Emergency Care Water Rescue Course (WRC) provides participants with the basic skills and knowledge required to work at many Aquatic Facilities (Public Pool, Waterpark etc). .
This course is fun, hands on and very comprehensible and is taught by experienced industry professionals. You will receive the highest quality training in the industry. Our Lifeguard instructors are professional Lifeguards with years of pool & ocean experience. Our first aid instructors are paramedics and/or Emergency Department nurses who have years of experience in managing medical emergencies.
Swim 200 metres continuously within 6 minutes. (any stroke)
Swim 50 metres, then tow a patient 50m within 3 minutes.
Identify, evaluate and respond to aquatic emergencies
Submerged or unconscious person
Non-swimming rescues: reach, rope throw, throw flotation aid
Swimming rescues: accompanied, wade, non-contact tow, contact tow
Spinal Injuries: Basic management of a suspected spinal injury in shallow water then assist Pool Lifeguards with placement on spineboard and removal from water.
Rescue Scenario: Rescue (using the appropriate response) two people in difficulty in a swimming pool up to 15 metres from safety.
Duration: 2 days (8:00am-5:00pm each day) *Credit may be given if first aid/CPR is current
